Efficient Cooking

Eat Organic Corn Microwaved, Save the World!

(well, almost...)

How it's done: First, like other plants, corn releases oxygen and absorbs carbon dioxide as it grows (plus #1). When you buy your corn, choose local corn grown without chemicals (pesticides, etc.). This reduces pollution (plus #2) from two sources: chemicals from farms and exhaust from the vehicles shipping the corn. Once you get your corn home, forget about that pot of boiling water. Instead, put you corn in the microwave with the husks still on. Why? Because microwaves use way less electricity than your stove (plus #3) and also because you'll be saving water (#4). Just put the whole corn, unhusked, inside the microwave and cook it for about 3 minutes per ear. It will basically steam inside the leaves. And after microwaving, you just peel back the leaves, let it cool for a few minutes, and then husk and eat!
